In addition, this industrial hall tree doesn’t take up a lot of floor space, but it does provide a good amount of storage. Therefore, you can use it in a small foyer without it getting in the way.

In actuality, the barnwood style is made of a strong, durable MDF material that costs less. Therefore, the manufacturer can charge less and pass the saving on to you.
In fact, in the close-up image below, you can see the distressed vintage style of the coat rack. From a distance, you could easily mistake it for reclaimed wood, making this inexpensive hall tree look like a custom, one-of-a-kind furnishing.
Therefore, if you like modern farmhouse decor and appreciate the ruggedness of industrial design, I think you’ll like these cool entryway organizers.

How to Assemble the Metal and Wood Hall Tree:
Assembly is pretty straightforward, although the package does come with a bunch of parts. In addition the parts and hardware, the product comes with a small wrench and an Allen wrench. You also need a Phillips head screwdriver for the job, which is not included. You can download assembly instructions here.
Also, you can anchor the unit to the wall to make it extra secure. The hall tree comes with wall anchors.
Adding Extra Storage to Your Hall Tree…
Neither unit above comes with storage baskets, although can buy a 2-pack separately for just about $30.
Each basket measures 13.25″ square by 8″ tall. Therefore, they can easily fit underneath the seat bench while being large enough to store shoes, purses, electronics and other accessories.
I think woven or wicker baskets add a natural touch to metal-framed furniture. Plus, they add a casual, rustic and unique touch while also providing concealed storage.
Metal and Wood Hall Tree VS IKEA and West Elm…
Compared to the IKEA industrial hall tree with coat rack and shoe storage bench, the 2 pieces above offer a lot more style.
Not to mention, they look more solid and sturdy. In my honest opinion, the IKEA version looks pretty cheap even though it can save you some money (nothing against IKEA!).
On the other hand, the West Elm Pipeline Coat Rack looks very similar but costs about 3 times as much. (About $500, to be exact.)
Although the high-end frame includes raw steel and solid mango wood, you end up paying a hefty premium for an almost identical piece of furniture.
Consider the fact that more often than not, the coat rack and seat will probably be holding coats, bags and backpacks. Will you actually notice the wood grain? Will your friends actually be able to tell whether the seat is real wood or not?
In this case, I’d say, save yourself a few hundred bucks. Then you can go buy yourself a new jacket. 😉
