Do you want to create a storage area for coats and bags in a small entryway? A corner hall tree can provide a convenient way to store miscellaneous items – without taking up much space.

Coaster Home Corner Hall TreeIn fact, you can hang 4 coats plus have storage for bags and shoes while taking up less than 4 square feet of floor! Below, I’ve listed 3 different affordable and easy-to-install options.

1. Corner Hall Tree from Coaster Home

This mini mudroom lets you hang jackets, backpacks, hats, scarves, umbrellas and more. In other words, you can keep frequently-used items within easy reach without cluttering up your foyer.

Plus, the upper shelf makes the perfect spot for small items like wallets, phones and sunglasses. Now, you won’t have to worry about where you left your keys, right?

At almost 6 feet tall, this compact hall tree provides a surprising amount of storage due to its vertical size. For this reason, it can work well in a den, home office or kids playroom as well.

Not to mention, the freestanding design makes it easy to install and move. Plus, compared to a built-in storage unit, a corner hall tree can save you a bunch of money and time.

3. Prepac Corner Mudroom

Prepac Corner Hall TreeLastly, we have the Prepac Corner Hall Tree. This unit has a unique feature in that it has slight grooves at the base to accommodate existing floor moulding/baseboards. Brilliant – talk about looking “built-in”!

In addition to the white or espresso, the Prepac also comes in a “Drifted Grey” finish that is so popular right now.

It has that rustic weathered wood appearance without looking to light or too dark. In other words, it hides dirt and scuff marks well. =)

Pros and Cons of MDF Engineered Wood:

All 3 of these shelf units are constructed out of manufactured wood with a protective laminate finish. This material is extremely durable, plus it makes the furniture cheaper to make. Therefore, it makes home furnishings more affordable.

However, MDF does not perform well with moisture. That is why MDF furnishings typically have an outer waterproof laminate coating. That said, you want to take extra care not to heavily scratch the outer veneer.

As you probably already know, laminate countertops hold up well under frequently-used conditions. Hence, I don’t usually worry about this – I just don’t use MDF cabinets in bathrooms.
